Robbert van Hulzen’s fascination with colour extends from his hat collection to his use of sounds.
He draws inspiration from a diversity of music, and has performed with new-early-improv music duo Rara Avis, theatre group De Maan, modern gamelan ensemble Gending, dance company Outsider, rock group Most Unpleasant Men, the Bastiaan Woltjer Quartet (jazz), and composer Merlijn Twaalfhoven. He has toured throughout Europe, Canada, and Indonesia, appears on several CDs, and performed, composed and/or produced the music for a number of films.
Robbert van Hulzen holds Master’s degrees in Ethnomusicology and in Performance. He studied drums with Steve Clover and South Indian percussion with MT Rajakesari and BC Manjunath. His article Tadikinatom: Guiding Principles in Percussion Playing in South Indian Classical Music is published in the Journal of Indian Musicology 2006.

Recorder player Terri Hron is happiest at the creative helm: writing and commissioning new pieces
for her ongoing project Bird on a Wire, arranging early music for renaissance ensemble Verboden Vrucht, and exploring the multicoloured world of improvisation with Rara Avis. Terri is a graduate in musicology and art history from the University of Alberta and impro-vised and composed music from the Conservatory in Amsterdam. She studied the recorder with Paul Leenhouts, composition with Theo Verbey and South Indian music with BC Manjunath (Bangalore). She is the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, including several from the Alberta Foundation and the Canada Council for the Arts.
